I can point to the various artists that I value and who works have influenced me, the late paintings of Claude Monet, watercolors by J.M.Turner, the clouds in the paintings of the English landscape artist, John Constable, the paintings of Jackson Pollack, Mark Rothko, Milton Resnick, and Sam Francis. And if you look at these artist’s paintings, you will see their influence.
And you can use the vision of a “formalist” aesthetic and look for the composition, the color themes or lack of, the lines, use of perspective or lack of perspective, the visual rhythm of the image. And all of this will give you worthwhile information.

“Why am I looking at the images that are in this website?” You will never see the artist in any of these paintings. What I believe you will see is a visual arena where you have emotional experiences. These become memories. With repeated viewings, you create your own history with the painting. Your thoughts and your feelings are a record of each moment you have looked at the painting. Collectively they serve as an exploration of yourself.
